Twice a month, on Thu afternoons from 12:30 - 2:30pm, the San Diego Park and Recreation Dept hosts a dance in the Balboa Park Club Ballroom for only $5. John Nagel, from the Balboa Park Dancers will be teaching different ballroom dances from 11:30am-12:30pm before the dance.

Most of the time it will be a live band with an occasional DJ. See below for theme & band.

Thu Sep 12, 2024 12:30 - 2:30pm Around the World theme. Celebrating cultures around the world! Music provided by the “Sophisticats”. 11:30am John Nagel teaching Foxtrot & East Coast Swing.

Thu Sep 26, 2024 12:30 - 2:30pm Oktoberfest theme. Wear your Oktoberfest gear or fall colors. Music by “Blue Zone”. 11:30am John Nagel teaching Foxtrot & East Coast Swing.

Thu Oct 10, 2024 12:30 - 2:30pm Sock Hop theme. Dress in your preferred 50s attire and boogie to music performed by the “Sophisticats”. 11:30am John Nagel teaching Waltz & Rumba.

Thu Oct 24, 2024 12:30 - 2:30pm Costume theme. Wear your Oktoberfest gear or fall colors. Music by “Blue Zone”. 11:30am John Nagel teaching Waltz & Rumba.

Thu Nov 14, 2024 12:30 - 2:30pm Veterans Appreciation theme. Let’s acknowledge and honor those who served our country. Veterans will receive free dance admission. Music will be provided by “Blue Zone”. Pinning ceremony will be held for all veterans compliments of Sharp, Hospice and Palliative Care. 11:30am John Nagel teaching Country Two Step & Jitterbug.
